10 years promoting a fair electronics model

Shifting the focus on technology use and challenging the Mobile World Congress

The Mobile Social Congress reaches its 10th edition with the aim of critically addressing various current issues related to the commercialization of new technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), as well as the business dynamics and practices of the electronics sector and big tech.

Once again, it coincides with the Mobile World Congress to create an alternative, accessible, and free space that denounces the injustices of a global production and consumption model based on extractivism and the outsourcing of social and environmental impacts to the Global South and vulnerable communities.

The Mobile Social Congress fosters critical reflection on the impact of the global production and commercialization of digital technologies and AI on people and the planet. It is an open space for citizens, organized as a response to the Mobile World Congress.

This year marks our 10th edition! We will address topics such as resource extractivismbarriers to unionization, and the implications of technological products in global conflicts, such as the genocide in Gaza. Who bears the environmental and social costs? What power structures are behind digital technologies? What role do Big Tech companies play?

Let’s build a fairer and more humane technological model, as an alternative to current production and consumption patterns. Let’s exercise our technological sovereignty!
